Durch Bodenmodellierung und Mähgutauftrag entstand im Vordergrund eine krautreiche, von Margerite (Leucanthemum vulgare) und Wundklee (Anthyllis vulneraria) dominierte Magerwiese. Im Hintergrund wird das Lebensraumspektrum ergänzt durch – ebenfalls aus Mähgutauftrag entstandene – nährstoffreichere, gräserdominierte Wiesenbereiche (Foto: Jochen Späth).

Neu geschaffene sowie aufgewertete Wiesen sollen durch ihre Blütenvielfalt bestechen. Vor allem sollen sie jedoch die lokaltypische Lebensraumvielfalt mitsamt ihren Pflanzen- und Tierarten fördern. Voraussetzung dafür ist, dass die Flächen gut vorbereitet werden, geeignetes Naturgemisch aufgetragen wird und die Wiesen in der Folgezeit angepasst und konsequent gepflegt werden.

Enhancing and recreating meadows – practical tips
Newly created and upgraded meadows should impress with their flower diversity. Above all, however, they should promote the habitat diversity typical of the locality together with its plant and animal species. The prerequisite for this is that the areas are well prepared, suitable natural seed-mixture is applied and the meadows are subsequently maintained consistently and adapted.
In order to preserve or re-establish as many valuable species and biotic communities as possible, it must be decided for each area individually which enhancement or creation methods are most suitable. Important parameters for this are, among others, the species already present, the development potential of the area and the use or vegetation of the surrounding areas. For meadows to be newly created, soil modelling is a central tool. We show its opportunities but also the risks.
